JANETCWEST

Hi, my name is Janet West. I am an R.N living in Kingwood, Texas. I moved from Atlanta, Georgia back to Texas in Sept. 2017. I will be joining Mercy Ship in Guinea, Africa April 14 - June 1 in my assigned position as one of the Admission Nurses. This will be my first time on Mercy Ship and am so excited at the opportunity.. My background was a Pediatric Nurse at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in the Acute Inpatient Rehab Dept. in Atlanta, Georgia, for a period of 19 years. I retired in March 2014 but continued to work "as needed" after retirement. If any of you have worked "as needed" you sometimes end up working as if you were back "full-time. While in Atlanta I did travel 5 years in a row to Tanzania, Africa with our church there doing medical mission work. For the past 4 years I have traveled twice a year to Belize in Central America to do medical mission work. Obviously I alway felt God had called me to medical mission work and was so excited when I was notified by Mercy Ship that they has an opening for me. Now the time is almost here and I am beside myself...both excited and nervous at the same time. I'm fortunate to have a very supportive husband who knows me and my love for medical mission work. I am grateful to God for him because in discussing the opportunity early on with him, he said "I think you will regret not taking this opportunity". What a guy!!! Anyway, enough said, except I can't wait to meet all of you.
