Indemnity Insurance

RuthySiemensRuthySiemens Posts: 3

Hi

I signed up for a trip with YWAM and they are requiring Indemnity Insurance and since I plan to come on the mercyship as well, I was just wondering if I will need the same type of Indemnity insurance. I am a Canadian and my regulatory body doesn't cover my nursing practice outside of Canada. Any Canadians have any knowledge to share about this?

Thanks

Ruthy

Hi Ruthy! You do not need to worry about obtaining indemnity insurance for your service with Mercy Ships. Indemnity is covered under the Protocol agreement we sign with the Ministry of Health in the countries where we serve. There are a few positions which require indemnity -- if you are treating crew -- and Mercy Ships takes care of those.

Hope this was helpful. Let me know if you have any further questions.
